The Central Alabama Homebuilding Academy (CAHA) is a nonprofit organization that provides hands-on,

short-term training to individuals seeking to enter into the residential construction industry. We are a proud member of the newly created Alabama Homebuilding Academy Network.

The program is FREE to those who:

  • Are committed to pursuing a career within the construction industry in the Greater Birmingham area

  • Submit to and pass a drug screening prior to beginning the program

  • Are legally allowed to work within the USA

  • Are 17 years of age or older

We do not certify our graduates in Home Building or remodeling/"flipping". For more information on how to become a Certified Homebuilder or Remodeler, please visit the Alabama Home Builders Licensure Board.

What is AHAN?

The Alabama Homebuilding Academy Network (AHAN) is a statewide alliance of residential construction training programs. We connect local academies, employers, and communities to build Alabama’s skilled workforce one student at a time.

What does AHAN do?

  • Support hands-on, skills-based training in carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and more

  • Connect AHAN students with local employers to match trained workers with hiring companies.

  • Advocate for construction careers as respected, rewarding opportunities

  • Create a network of excellence where best practices, resources, and innovation are shared
